Samsung launched two new low-mid range phones in India -- Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy (2015) in an event on Monday. The phones are priced at ₹13990 and ₹15990 respectively.

Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) has a 5.2-inch full-HD display along with 2 GB of RAM. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor. Galaxy J5 has 16 GB of internal storage with an option of expansion with the SD card. The phone has a battery life of 3100 mAh.

Samsung Galaxy J7 (2015) on the other hand a 5.5-inch full-HD display along with 2 GB of RAM. Its China variant has a 3 GB RAM. On the inside, Galaxy J7 sports Samsung's own Exynos 1.6GHz chipset . Galaxy J7 has 16 GB of internal storage with an option of expansion with the SD card.

Both the phones have same cameras. A 13 MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture. The front camera is of 5 MP. Both the phones are running software based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

This is the third phone of the J series the Korean smartphone giants have launched this year. In March, they launched Samsung Galaxy J3 which was focused on bikers. Galaxy J3 had a special bike mode which provided options for safe riding. The company was also declared a leader in the premium segment for the first quarter beating Apple.

Both the phone are launched at a time when there are already phones like LeEco 1s and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 have been capturing the market and attention of the Indian consumer space. Another popular phone in the similar category Moto G is ready for a reboot on 17 May with its newest iteration Moto G4. Lenovo is also launching their sub-brand Zuk in India. Zuk will launch Zuk Z1 which is said to be priced at ₹15000 on 10 May.
