India's apex court cleared the way for a single common entrance exam for students appearing for under-graduate medical courses -- the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), according to reports.

A bench headed by Justice Anil Dave said the first phase of NEET will be held on May 1 and the second on July 24 and the combined result will be out on August 17, the Supreme Court said.

The NEET is to be held by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
