The police arrived at cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's wedding on Sunday after a relative allegedly fired celebratory gunshots in the air just a few feet away from the bridegroom during the marriage procession at Rajkot, reported IBN7.
Although no one was injured, but police official Mahendra Singh Rana of the Lodhika Police Station, told IBN 7 it's illegal to use firearms, even if they are licensed, except in cases of self-defence.
"We got the message from our control room. We are checking the footage. Even if shots are fired from a licensed weapon, it can be done only in self-defence. The offence, if proved, can lead to a jail sentence of 3 years," Rana said.
Jadeda married Rivaba Solanki, a mechanical engineer from Junagadh, in his hometown Rajkot, the ceremony attended by family and friends of the couple.
