The trailer of one this year's most-awaited films, 'Udta Punjab' was released today evening, and it's as trippy as you'd have imagined.
The film, directed by Abhishek Chaubey, deals with the notorious problem of drugs plaguing Punjab and features a star-studded cast in the form of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh.
Featuring multiple storylines that interweave at a particular point, the trailer is peppered with quite a few expletives and one must credit the Central Board of Film Certification for passing it without any cuts. Alia Bhatt particularly stands out in the trailer, and she seems to have mastered the Bihari accent, something we haven't seen her do so far and which is a refreshing departure from her previous roles.
Same can be said about Shahid Kapoor, who has sunk his teeth into his role of a perennially-high rockstar. It is most-likely going to be as memorable as his part in Haider, which earned him multiple awards.
Moody, gripping and fairly intense, it's also Amit Trivedi's music which adds a lot of panache to the trailer of 'Udta Punjab.'
This will also be the first time we'll see former lovers Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor in the same movie, ever since their break-up.
Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Phantom films, 'Udta Punjab' will release in theatres on June 17.
