If you've followed External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj's Twitter feed, you would have noticed how promptly and regularly she responds to those seeking help. It seems the Prime Minister's office has been noticing her timeline as well. In a first-ever ranking of Union ministers on how efficiently they respond to grievances on Twitter, Swaraj has topped the list, followed by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, The Telegraph reported.
Prabhu, equally prompt at responding to emergencies tweeted to him by distraught passengers on trains, has ranked second after Swaraj in the exercise conducted by the Prime Minister's office, the paper reported.
Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy, Piyush Goyal, ranked third, followed by Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma. Minister of State for Finance, Jayant Sinha, ranked fifth.
Telegraph quoted government officials as saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked all ministers to emulate Prabhu when it came to taking an active interest in using the social networking platform to serve people better.
Both Prabhu and Swaraj, have helped people out of sticky situations in the country and abroad based on their pleas for help on Twitter.
Swaraj recently helped an Indian who was stuck in a conflict zone in the Saudi Arabian city of Najran. His employer didn’t return his passport, so the minister took the matter in her hands. Swaraj also intervened in the rescue of a girl in UAE after a user, Dev Tamboli, tweeted his predicament to her, seeking help in rescuing his sister, who was 'locked in a room' in UAE.
Prabhu has helped parents reunite with lost children and averted medical emergencies by directing his ministry officials to provide prompt help at stations, often to the surprise of grateful passengers.
