Shaktiman The Horse Is Now Able To Stand On His Own, Days After Amputation

Shaktiman, the police horse that had to get his badly-injured left hind leg amputated, after being allegedly attacked during a BJP protest in Uttarakhand, is now able to stand on his own.

Dr. Rakesh Nautiyal, who is attending to Shaktiman, told ANI: "Shaktiman is recovering. He is now able to stand on his own without the harness. We are really happy that Shaktiman is better than before, fit and is recovering."

Shaktiman, a trained police horse which was part of the Uttarakhand Mounted Police for years, was allegedly attacked by BJP MLA Ganesh Joshi during a BJP protest on 14 March. Joshi was arrested and later released on bail on 23 March after furnishing a bond.
