It seems troubles won't end for Hrithik Roshan anytime soon. A tweet by the actor has now landed him in legal soup.
Abraham Mathai, the former Vice-Chairman of the States Minorities Commission, has filed a suit against Roshan for his remarks suggesting that he would have rather have an affair with the pope than any of his female co-stars.
“Ther r more chances of me having had an affair with d Pope dan any of d (Im sure wonderful) women d media hs been naming,” this is what the actor had tweeted.
Mathai has sent a criminal notice to the actor under Section 295 (A) of Indian Penal Code for his unwarranted comments against the Pope.
Roshan had tweeted this in January 28 as a public reaction to an interview by his alleged former girlfriend, Kangana Ranaut, in which the actress said a “silly ex” was giving her trouble and causing her to lose roles.
Two weeks ago, Hrithik and Kangana Ranaut had allegedly sent out legal notices to each other after they got involved in an ugly spat, making controversial statements against each other.
Roshan alleged in the legal notice that he has a record of 1, 439 number of mails sent by Kangana and most of them are "senseless, personal, and absurd. Kangana, responded, with a legal notice that claimed that the actor created a different email-ID to interact with her. It also alleged that this was also done to make sure that the actor's divorce proceedings with his then wife Sussanne Khan were not impacted.
Mathai now wants an unconditional apology from Hrithik in the next seven days for "hurting religious sentiments."
"Why demean the Pope? Hrithik has a right to have relations with anybody, but the Pope is not a common man, he is the religious head of Catholics all over the world," Mathai was quoted as saying.
In the notice, Abraham also points out that Hrithik's tweet suggests that the pope is gay.
"That despite being aware of the above facts, and besides being no way concerned or connected with the highly respected "Pope Francis" whether with respect to the said subject matter dealing with homosexuality or even otherwise, you have yet through your statement so published on a public platform i.e. twitter on the 28th of January 2016 have malafidely, mischievously and intentionally insulted as well as defiantly ridiculed the Pope, by suggesting that the respected and chaste Pope who is the religious and spiritual head of Roman Catholics all over the world is "available to have an affair with you," reads the notice.
Mathai now hopes wisdom prevails on Hrithik before it's too late.
