As you may have heard, a reboot of the hit '90s TV show Hip Hip Hurray is on the cards.

Slated to be a digital-only show, it boasts of a fresh cast that includes Shweta Bajpai, Anshuman Malhotra, Rohan Shah, Krissanne Barretto, and Adhish Khanna.

The first season will have 20 episodes and is slated to debut online in the first week of April, according to a source closely associated with the show who didn't want to be named.

According to Indiatimes, the new rebooted version of the show will stick to the "basic idea of modern coming-of-age teenage stories of its protagonists whilst handling peer pressure, sexual desires, studies, and decisions of life".

The young cast has been bonding big time on the sets of the show, whose original version was one of the first on Indian television to shed light on issues such as peer pressure, sexuality etc amongst young students.

The cult show, which ran for two seasons with a total of 125 episodes between August 1998 and May 2001, was lauded for its fresh portrayal of the youth. It launched the careers of several actors who went on to work in film and TV, such as Purab Kohli, Peeya Rai Chowdhary, Zafar Karachiwala, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Kishwer Merchantt, and Nauheed Cyrusi.
