SRK's 'Fan' Trailer Looks A Lot Like '90s Robert De Niro Starrer 'The Fan'

Doesn't SRK's 'Fan' Look A Lot Like This '90s Hollywood Flick?

After months of teasers and first looks, the full-length trailer for Maneesh Sharma's Fan, starring Shah Rukh Khan in a double role, was uploaded on Monday evening.

With Khan playing both superstar Aryan Khanna (a version of himself) as well as Gaurav, a lanky youth who is Khanna's biggest fan, the film looks like a psychological thriller, featuring several action sequences and tense moments.

It bears more than a passing resemblance to the Tony Scott film The Fan (1996), starring Wesley Snipes as a hot-shot baseball star and Robert De Niro as his crazily obsessed fan. The film, which has been shown on Indian TV channels several times, is about a die-hard fan who becomes progressively more unhinged and dangerous.

A line from the movie, where De Niro's character says "Without people like me, you're nothing", sounds a lot like a line from Sharma's Fan, which goes: "Gaurav hai, toh Aryan hai. Gaurav nahi, toh Aryan kuchh bhi nahi."

Watch the trailer of The Fan above and SRK's upcoming film below to see for yourself.

Maneesh Sharma's Fan, also starring Waluscha De Sousa and Sayani Gupta, releases on April 15.
