Former WWE wrestler Dalip Singh Rana, better known by his ring name 'The Great Khali', suffered a severe head injury during the Continental Wrestling Entertainment show at Haldwani, Uttarakhand, according to reports.

Khali, who was crowned the World Heavyweight Champion in 2007, sustained a head injury on Wednesday night during the first show of The Great Khali Returns Series while fighting against international wrestlers at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Gaula Par.

According to SportsKeeda, Khali was attacked by international wrestlers Mike Knox and Brody Steel as part of the plan. However, things went horribly off-script as he was bleeding and genuinely hurt after being knocked on the head with a steel chair.

After the incident, Khali was airlifted from Haldwani on Thursday morning and bought to a speciality hospital in Dehradun.

"Khali has been under observation and tests are being conducted on him to know whether he has suffered injuries to his chest as well," one of the event organisers told PTI.

According to NDTV, Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat, finance minister Indira Hridayesh and sports minister Yashpal Arya were present during Khali's fight.
