Malayalam Music Director Rajamani Passes Away At 60

CHENNAI -- Well-known musician Rajamani, known for his background scores in Malayalam movies has died. He was 60.

The composer passed away while being taken to a city hospital last night after he complained of uneasiness, sources close to the family said.

Son of late musician B A Chidambaranath, Rajamani had composed songs for more than 70 Malayalam movies in his over three-decade long career. He made his Malayalam debut with the film Nullinovikkathe in 1985.

He composed the background score for blockbusters including Narasimham (2000), Aaraam Thampuran (1997), for which he won Kerala state film award, and Ravanaprabhu (2001).

Rajamani is survived by son Acchu, who is also a music composer in Tamil and Telugu cinema.
