Each one of us has some regrets in life. Hoping we had done some things better, reacted to situations better and hoped to have done some things sooner. As teenagers we hope for adulthood to dawn at the earliest, we make so many plans of what we'd do, but often forget most of it once we are there. Similarly when we are just stepping into the corporate world, we all have big plans, thoughts about all things we are going to do- aim for and dream about. But there are some basic things that get left out, things we should have done then. Here are seven such things we all hoped we did when we started working, but just couldn't.

While we all start out by thinking of taking a vacation every year but soon get caught in the corporate rut and forget all about it. It should be a cardinal rule to take one annual holiday. Be it with friends, family or solo- international or domestic, sea or the mountains- take your pick and definitely get onto one experience driven break that will keep you rejuvenated.

You never did this and every time an emergency cropped up, you hoped you had saved up some funds. It's common that when we start earning our spends too increase and most of us end up exhausting all that we had earned. Keep some liquid cash in hand for any kind of emergency needs.

This is usually the least of our priorities, but soon we realise how important this is. Had someone told us then, we'd be insured by now. Term covers are a must have in your financial portfolio and are the most basic insurance plans one could choose from. The younger you buy a term plan, the lesser the premium, you can choose a bigger life cover and a longer cover period. Additionally you also get a tax benefit on this. Don't you wish someone had told you this when you started out?

Often we get absorbed and soak ourselves way too much in work forgetting all about our health. Late hours at work, lack of proper meals, increase in daily dose of coffee and a desk job leaves us very unhealthy. Don't you wish you hadn't let go off your evening run or that one hour of gym in the morning.

Music, writing, cooking, riding- everyone has a passion. Then why is it that we cut its wings so easily? Our passion not only helps us clear our heads, but more importantly keeps you stress free. Its imperative one finds the time, or makes it point to find time, if not daily but at least twice in a week to do something that they love.

We always think the grass is greener on the other side. You should always give yourself time. New job, new people, new environment can sometimes be a little too overwhelming or have its own challenges but you need to stick around, prove your metal and move up. Trust us, looking for a change so soon will never be the solution.

  1. The Experiential vacation
  2. Have some liquid cash
  3. Haven't you insured yourself yet?
  4. Leading a healthy lifestyle
  5. Keeping your passion alive
  6. Appreciate what you have
  7. Spend quality time with people you love

Spending quality time smiling with family and friends, enjoying the antics of a pet, seeing your child or niece or nephew smile, experiencing intimate and heart-felt moments with your significant other – these times are priceless. So don't get so caught up in the rat race, to the point where you are too stressed and exhausted to enjoy your closest relationships.

Having said all this, we believe it's never too late for anything. Reach out for yourself and start living. Plan your annual breaks, spend time with loved ones, keep some emergency funds, love what you do, go back to your hobby and last but not the least get yourself a term cover. Check out Click2Protect Plus by HDFC Life and get yourself an insurance cover that takes care of your family forever.
