Himesh Reshammiya, the actor, is back again in all our lives.
Two years after The Xpose (2014), the music director-turned-leading man returns as the star of the upcoming Teraa Suroor. The film, directed by Shawn Arranha, is a sequel to Reshammiya's acting debut Aap Kaa Suroor (2007). It releases in theatres on March 11.
The trailer for Teraa Surroor features him as a mysterious assassin/playboy/50 Shades Of Grey enthusiast. This is in stark contrast to its prequel, where Reshammiya played himself.
It has everything fans may have missed — Reshammiya's trademark nasal howls, a song that starts off sounding suspiciously like 'Tum Hi Ho' from Aashiqui 2 (2013), over-the-top action sequences (we didn't spot any flying auto-rickshaws here, though), exotic European locales, and a fresh-faced leading lady (Farah Karimaee).
To add to that, Himesh bhai seems to have been spending a lot of time at the gym (perhaps he's bored of trying to look like Justin Bieber).
Those of you who aren't fans and love revisiting the video where the Pretentious Movie Reviews guys gleefully dissect its prequel, please don't think of this movie as some sort of a B-grade oddity. So what if they ripped off the opening riff to Jimi Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child (Slight Return)' at 0:45?
After all, this movie also stars....
...an Oscar-nominated filmmaker...
...a Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan winning actor, nay, thespian, who is considered a key figure of Indian parallel cinema...
... and one of Indian indie scene's most-loved musicians/someone who acted in the critically-well-received Dhobi Ghat (2010).
So, yeah, stop being elitist and all, okay?
