WhatsApp has introduced Facebook integration in the latest beta version of its Android app. Spotted by developer Javier Santos, the screenshots posted by him reveal that WhatsApp will give the user an option for Facebook sharing of their data.
The screenshots suggest that WhatsApp is using this data to improve Facebook users' experience. It is unclear what data will be shared and how that data is going to be useful in enhancing the Facebook encryption. Facebook bought the instant messaging company in February 2014 for nearly $19 billion.
Another feature that might get added to WhatsApp is end-to-end encryption. The app already has encrypted chat and call features, but the device level security will add another layer of user data protection and privacy.
Earlier in January, WhatsApp's founder Jan Koum told a Digital-Life-Design (DLD) conference: "We are a couple of months away from introducing the feature. Soon we will be able to give you more information about this."
Notably, earlier WhatsApp scrapped its $1 annual fee from all the countries and all versions. They said that they want to grow more and explore new options for revenue generation while making the communication available to all of the world.
