Several young students from Manav Utthan Manch are helping pave a brighter path for Nashik by a special campaign. Through the collection and sale of old newspapers, they are funding the availability of inspirational books, dictionaries, notebooks and stationary items to underprivileged children, according to a report by DNA.
Aptly christened ‘Raddi se Samruddhi’, the campaign kicked off with 100 students from the 7th grade in Swami Vivekanand Primary School, Indira Nagar. “We gifted them a book on Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts and teachings. We are focusing on children belonging to class 6 and 7, as this is a very crucial age for guidance. It will encourage them to read, build their vocabulary, and keep them away from bad habits,” said the campaign’s co-ordinator in an interview with DNA.
He also mentioned that the group has already gathered approximately 100 kg of newspapers to sell. The campaign has set up four collection centres for volunteers.
The centres are:
1. Madhu Milan Store
Shop No. 21, Shubham Park 2, Uttam Nagar
2. MT Classes
Rukmini Row Houses 2, Indira Nagar
3. Devaz Arcade
Near Tanishq show room, College Road
4. Bhave Plasto
Peth Nagar Corner, opposite Satyam Sweet, Peth Phata
