Actor, comedian, musician, and now Twitter activist β€” Vir Das wears many hats.

On Monday, the 36-year-old entertainer was with actor and frequent collaborator Kavi Shastri in the Jet Airways lounge at Ahmedabad's Sardar Valabbhai Patel International Airport, waiting to take a flight to Mumbai. However, due to the absence of boarding announcements in the lounge, the two missed their flight.

You'd think the staff's first reaction would be to apologise profusely and offer to make it up to them. However, this happened.

In case you think Das made this up, another Twitter user supported his claim.

@thevirdas@jetairways i was there and saw this happen. Despicable Behaviour by Jet Staff.

According to BuzzFeed India, he then tried speaking to other staff members at the lounge, only to be ignored or stonewalled.

Finally, the duty manager arrived. But Vir alleged that he wasn't helpful, and in fact, walked away when his intervention was sought.

A beautiful climax. Jet airways. Here's your duty manager on tape walking away from me refusing to help. @jetairwayspic.twitter.com/xzdydgg3ZT

Damn, son.

Here's part two of me chasing the jet airways duty manager for help. The saga :-) @jetairways THANKS GUYS! pic.twitter.com/kAiNcwGgi4

Finally, Das and Shastri had to shell out Rs 30,000 to get on the next flight to Mumbai. At this point, they got a call from a representative of the airline who offered to refund their money. This is what they had to say about it.

Hey @jetairways thanks to Dilip for calling offering a refund. Refused saying I'd much prefer a proper apology :-) pic.twitter.com/zbt18qb973

Update:

Jet Airways responded to Das' complaint, claiming that the lounge staff informed guests about the flight's boarding.

@thevirdas Hi Vir, please allow us to clarify. pic.twitter.com/hKnv2OoEpT

Das was finally mollified after he got his apology, thanks to social media.

The day ends well :-) @jetairwayspic.twitter.com/dM1nc022fr
