Bihar Government's Website Calling Indira Gandhi's Regime Worse Than British Raj Is Incorrect: Congress

Congress Isn't Amused With What Bihar Government Is Saying About Indira Gandhi

The party's state unit presidents and spokespersons were given prior instructions to prepare the ground by raising local issues and projecting the Modi government as an 'anti-poor and anti-worker' dispensation. As the ruling National Democratic Alliance prepares to celebrate the completion of its first year, the Congress is all set to unveil an equally high-pitched counter-offensive. NEW DELHI -- The Congress Party on Monday said that the report published on the Bihar Government's official website saying former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's regime was worse than the British raj, was not correct and they have asked the state government to rectify it.

"This is not a new issue. This issue was also raised when we were in opposition in Bihar. We have requested the Bihar Government to rectify things in the Bihar state government's website," Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad told ANI.

He also said that the write up, which had nothing to do with reality, should be removed.

The official website of the Bihar Government has said that Indira Gandhi's rule was worse than that of the British, angering the Congress which is a constituent of ruling coalition.

The mention about "autocratic rule" of Indira and "oppression" perpetrated during the Emergency has been made in a write upon Bihar's history.
