MEERUT -- BJP leader and Unnao MP Sakshi Maharaj today said if Muslims are safe anywhere in the world, it is in India.

He also claimed that Muslim population was the biggest beneficiary of the programmes launched by the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre.

Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of an event, Maharaj praised Modi saying the Opposition was scared by the programmes and policies implemented by him, so, in Parliament, whenever, he tries to speak about development of the country, they create disruptions.

On Indo-Pak talks, he said "If the PM talks to Pakistan they (the Opposition) have a problem and if he doesn't, then they have a problem too."

Attacking the opposition leaders the BJP MP said that Mulayam Singh Yadav, Nitish Kumar, Mamata Banerjee and (Arvind) Kejriwal are a danger to the nation.

On cow slaughter, he said the BJP-ruled state are making strict laws against the practise.

Slamming the critics for accusing the BJP government of being "intolerant", he said, after Bihar Assembly elections these people have gone in silence.

He also claimed that one lakh Muslims from MP have favoured construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and also put their signature to it.

"If people of the country want Ram Mandir to be built at Ayodhya then what is the controversy," he said.
