NEW DELHI -- In a big push to prioritise combating air pollution in Delhi, the Supreme Court today ordered a slew of measures including a ban on registration of diesel-run sport utility vehicles (SUV) and cars with 2000 cc engines in the capital and the National Capital Region till March 31, 2016.
Delhi is ranked the world's worst polluted city by the World Health Organisation.
"Rich people can't go round in SUVs polluting the environment," said Chief Justice of India T.S. Thakur, earlier this week. "People's life is at stake and you are interested in selling cars."
The registration of these cars will banned in Delhi for the next three months. This list has been compiled by NDTV. The Supreme Court order does not affect cars already registered.
