Last week, when a bride in Uttar Pradesh called off her marriage at the last minute because her groom was neither 'literate' nor 'mentally fit', she became a social media sensation.

Now, Khushboo Saxena, who lives in Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh, has reportedly married a farmer, who can not only read and write, but has also passed his 10th standard, says an article in Hindustan Times.

Khushboo, 21, has herself studied up to the eighth standard. Her new spouse Amit lives in a small village in Oriyya district in UP.

The village elders, who were earlier concerned about Khushboo breaking off her marriage when her groom could not add numbers or differentiate between 69 and 79, participated in the wedding, heartily blessing the woman.

Khushboo wants to become a teacher, and according to her friends and family, would never have accepted an illiterate groom.

A similar incident took place earlier this year in March, when a groom in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur Dehat district was dumped by his bride after he failed to solve a simple mathematical problem.

The bride had asked the groom to add 15 and six. When he replied 17, she walked out.
