A furious Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal directed an extraordinarily sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a "coward and psychopath" after his office was allegedly raided by the CBI.

What followed was a barrage of shocked tweets directed at the chief minister for using language that some claimed tarnished the dignity of his office.

"@ArvindKejriwal Modi is a coward and a psycopath" Ur uncouth tweet confirms that u r indulging in corrupt, illegal& anti-national activities

— SecularScientist (@SwarupPhD) December 15, 2015

.@ArvindKejriwal Respectfully, this is unbecoming of u, sir. The moment u bring personal abuse 2a debate,u lose regardless of right or wrong

— Tinu Cherian Abraham (@tinucherian) December 15, 2015

Your abuses won't make you @ArvindKejriwal a hero. Why didn't you check what your principle secretary was upto or did u know?

— shilpi tewari (@shilpitewari) December 15, 2015

@ArvindKejriwal while I understand your frustration, tweeting so much bad for PM of country is also not good. Please be calm.

According to reports, the CBI has said it has registered a case against Secretary to the Chief Minister, Rajendra Kumar, on allegations of abusing his official position by "favouring a particular firm in the last few years in getting tenders from Delhi government departments."

Meanwhile, some of the chief minister's supporters have initiated a hashtag called #ModiFearsKejriwal
