Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a 'psychopath' and a 'coward' following an alleged Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raid in his office.

In an unprecedented move, the CBI raided and sealed the office of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday. The Aam Aadmi Party leader hit back at the Prime Minister on Twitter.

CBI raids my office

Citing political issues between him and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kejriwal has claimed that the raids are an act of "cowardice".

When Modi cudn't handle me politically, he resorts to this cowardice

Modi is a coward and a psycopath

Sources told PTI that a team of CBI officials went to the Delhi Secretariat, which houses office of Kejriwal and other ministers in the morning and conducted the search in the third floor of the building.

They said the search may be in connection with the multi-crore CNG fitness scam.

There were allegations that Kejriwal's Principal Secretary was linked to the scam but the senior IAS officer as well as AAP government have been rejecting the charges.

The third floor of the secretariat also houses Kejriwal's offce.

The AAP government has been locked in a running feud with the Centre over the control of important functions like law and order, police and land.

Meanwhile, the CBI said it has registered a case against Secretary to the Chief Minister, Rajendra Kumar on allegations of abusing his official position by "favouring a particular firm in the last few years in getting tenders from Delhi government departments."

"After taking warrants, searches are being conducted in the office and residence of Rajendra Kumar. The allegations against Rajendra Kumar were raised by Ashish Joshi, former Member Secretary, Delhi Dialogue Commission," the agency said.

Kumar, according to Zee News has been accused with graft allegations following complaints made to CBI, that only certain private companies had benefited wherever he was posted in the last five years.

राजेंद्र के बहाने मेरे दफ़्तर की सारी फ़ाइल देखी जा रही हैं।

— Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) December 15, 2015

Referring to Kumar, Kejriwal said that he was (perhaps) the only CM who had dismissed a minister and a government official voluntarily, handing over his case to the CBI, because he was charged with corruption.

I am the only CM who dismissed, on my own, a minister n a senior officer on charges of corruption and handed their cases to CBI(1/2)

— Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) December 15, 2015

If CBI had any evidence against Rajender, why didn't they share it wid me? I wud hv acted against him(2/2)

— Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) December 15, 2015

A CBI spokesperson denied the raid was targetted at Kejriwal and said it was conducted at Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar's office. Kejriwal contested that claim with another tweet and said the investigating agency was lying.

CBI lying. My own office raided. Files of CM office are being looked into. Let Modi say which file he wants?

— Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) December 15, 2015

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Vijender Gupta said that the language used by Kejriwal for PM of India is highly 'abominable'. "In terms of fighting corruption he has only politicised it," he said.

Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that it has become Kejriwal's fashion to blame Centre and drag PM Modi into everything. "PM and the government has nothing to do with the CBI. We don't monitor the CBI," the minister said.

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued a statement calling the CBI raid on Kejriwal's office "highly

condemnable."

"It is unprecedented that in the name of investigating the accusations against a bureaucrat, the office of the Chief Minister should be sealed and files searched, as alleged by the Chief Minister," the statement said.

"This raid is a new low in the Modi Government's encroachment on the rights and dignity of non BJP elected Governments," the CPI(M) said.
