Over the last few days, social media, especially Twitter and Facebook, has connected those stranded in the Chennai floods with those willing to go the extra mile, sometimes in knee-deep sludge, to help them. The devastation caused by the floods have uprooted people from their homes and caused massive damage to life and property.
But people in Chennai, and all over the country have risen as one to help those struggling to stay on dry ground after the worst cloudburst in a century brought their lives to a standstill. Google documents listing volunteers have been created and people have opened their homes to the homeless. Brands have pitched in with food, shelter and essential supplies to help get Chennai up on its feet.
But even then, sometimes cries for help can slip through the cracks of constantly churning social media. Here are some people who have tweeted seeking urgent help. If you are a volunteer, running an NGO, or simply someone who has access to resources, help these people get access to it.
