AMBALA -- Around 15 people have lost their eyesight after a surgery at a health camp organised by a charitable trust in Ambala.

The surgery to cure cataract was reportedly performed on 24 November.

Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Hooda urged the state government to initiate a probe into the matter.

"The government should initiate probe in this issue and punish those at fault. There are guidelines in this regard, they should immediately take action in this matter. This is a case of negligence," Hooda told ANI.

According to reports, the victims realised that they were blinded a day after the surgery when the bandages around their eyes were opened. There was a panic in the camp when many complained of similar issues, following which they were rushed to PGI Chandigarh.
