India's 'Milk Man' Gets Tribute From Google On His 94th Birth Anniversary

NEW DELHI -- Google is celebrating Verghese Kurien's 94th birth anniversary with its doodle.

The doodle shows the white revolution with milk can in the hands of the popular social entrepreneur, along with a cow standing nearby.

Kurien, also known as the 'Father of the White Revolution,' turned India from milk-deficient country to the world's largest milk producer, exceeding America in 1998 with about 17 percent of world's output in 2010-11.

Not only this, with his efforts, daily farming became India's largest self-sustaining industry.

His biggest creation was Amul brand of daily products.

Verghese Kurien died on 9 September, 2012 in Nadiad, Gujarat. He was 90 year-old.
