KUPWARA -- One Commanding Officer (CO) was killed and four jawans were injured in an ongoing gun battle with the militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara District on Tuesday.

Colonel Santosh Mahadik of the 41 Rashtriya Rifles breathed his last at the base hospital after being critically injured in the encounter.

According to reports, the Army was on the hunt for at least eight militants since Friday.
