Delhi Police Official Commits Suicide In Noida, Wife Jumps Off Balcony

NEW DELHI -- A senior Delhi Police official allegedly shot himself dead after which his wife jumped from the balcony of their apartment in Noida Sector 100 today.

The deceased identified as Amit Singh, was posted as an assistant commissioner in the Special Cell of Delhi Police. He was a Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police Service (DANIP) officer of 2010 batch, police said.

After the incident, residents of the building called up the police control room, following which the couple was rushed to a hospital where Singh was declared brought dead and his wife was admitted in a critical condition, police said.

The reason behind the couple taking the extreme step has not been ascertained yet.

The couple have a two-year-old child, police added.
