NEW DELHI -- The three-member committee constituted by the Delhi Government on Monday recommended the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to suspend Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) over the allegations of financial irregularities within the capital's cricket administration.

The committee also suggested the state cricket body should be instead run by an interim committee of cricket professionals.

Echoing similar views, former Indian all-rounder Madan Lal said that the association should appoint some professional cricketers in order to run it effectively.

"I think they have done the right thing. I want a mixture of professional cricketers and the professional people who can run the association properly because the cricket has grown up a lot. If Delhi is doing well it is not because of DDCA but it is because of the players. We always get very good players that's why we win and not any contribution from DDCA. I think they should take some hard decisions if we want to do something in DDCA," Madan said in an exclusive interview to ANI.

"Definitely the involvement of professional cricketers in the DDCA committee will help. They should have finished all these things two months back when they knew that Test match is scheduled to be held in Delhi. I also want Delhi to host the Test match but not in this circumstances, when nobody knows what is happening in DDCA. We want cricket to grow," he added.

The DDCA came under scrutiny after former cricketer and BJP MP Kirti Azad had raised the issue of financial irregularities within the association.

On a complaint filed by former cricketer Bishen Singh Bedi and other cricketers, the Delhi Government had ordered a probe into the issue.

The state's association has also been looking for clearance from the government to host the final Test of the four-match series between India and South Africa at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, starting from 3 December.

Delhi could lose the chance of hosting the fourth Test if it fails to pay entertainment tax of Rs. 24 crores.
