WATCH: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Wrote This Year's Durga Puja Theme Song

You Won't Believe Who Wrote This Year's Durga Puja Theme Song

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has added song-writing to the list of her many talents.

Last year, she started her Durga Puja celebrations with an artistic touch. She painted the third eye on the forehead of the idol of Goddess Durga at the Chetla Agrani Club in south Kolkata. The Trinamool Congress chief's painting has even fetched $3000 dollars at a New York auction.

The artist who created the idol was satisfied with the CM's efforts.

This year, the chief minister decided to showcase her musical talent by penning the Durga Puja theme of Suruchi Sangha, one of the popular pandals in south Kolkata. The song has been sung by Shreya Ghoshal and the music composed by Jeet Gannguli.

The three-minute video that was uploaded by the Trinamool Congress on its YouTube channel shows a child who sees the face of Goddess Durga in mothers, cutting across religion.

The lyrics go like this: "Ma go tumi sarbo jonin, achho hridoy jure, Ma ammi mother aki ta bhuli ki kore..." which essentially means all mothers are the same.

Recently, a Bengali newspaper reported that the song penned by the West Bengal chief minister will be played at traffic signals in Kolkata.
