Rohini Salian, former special public prosecutor for the 2008 Malegaon blast case and who'd accused the National Investigation Agency of forcing her to 'go soft' on those accused in the case, has revealed the name of officer who asked her to do so.

The 2008 Malegaon blast had killed four people and injured 79 and was particularly controversial because it showed up the complicity of Hindu terror outfits in the bombing, initially thought to be carried out by Pakistan-sponsored terror groups.

The officer was Suhas Warke, said Salian in an affidavit filed in the Bombay High Court and later forwarded to the Supreme Court. She told the Indian Express that she disclosed the name as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court had asked her to do so.

"I say that as I am told a criminal contempt petition is filed before this Hon'ble court and in administration of justice," her affidavit read, "as an officer of the Hon'ble court, I am disclosing the name of NIA officer, who had tried to interfere with the delivery of administration of justice, as a messenger. His name is Shri Suhas Warke, SP, NIA, Mumbai branch."

The Indian Express reports that the affidavit has been now submitted to the Supreme Court along with 'a petition asking it to pay heed to revelations made in the affidavit and issue appropriate orders against the NIA in the interest of justice'.

Dr Sanjay Lakhe Patil had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking contempt of court action against the NIA and was the one who submitted Salian's affidavit. Of the14 arrested accused persons, four were granted bail between 2011 and 2013 when Salian led the NIA’s case in the Bombay High Court.
