NEW DELHI -- Continuing his tirade against Narendra Modi's clothes, Vice President Rahul Gandhi today made jibes at the number of times the Prime Minister changes outfits when he is on a foreign trip.

Addressing a rally in Bihar, a week ahead of the state election, Gandhi said that Modi stopped wearing suits inside the country after he criticised his "suit-boot" government, and he praised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for sticking to white kurtas.

"How many times does Modi ji change clothes when he goes abroad. But have you seen Nitish Kumar ji wear anything other than a kurta," Gandhi told his audience in Sheikhpura district.

"After Modi ji became the prime minister, I labeled it as a 'suit-boot' government, and then he never wore a suit," he said. "Have you seen Nitish ji wear anything but white."

The Congress Party has allied with Kumar's Janata Dal (United) and Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal to prevent the Bharatiya Janata Party and its partners from coming into power in Bihar. With no candidate to rival Kumar in the state, BJP has projected Modi as the face of its Bihar election campaign.

The Bihar State Elections over 243 seats will be conducted from October 12 to November 5, and the counting day is on November 8. While former rivals RJD and JD(U) will contest 100 seats each, the Congress Party will field 40 candidates.

Gandhi addressed rallies in Bachhwara-Begusarai, Barbigha-Sheikhpura, and Chenari-Rohtas on Wednesday.

In his speeches, Gandhi is sticking to the formula of mocking Modi's clothes, accusing him of making false promises, highlighting the Vyapam Scam and Lalit Modi scandal involving top leaders of the BJP, and characterising his "suit-boot" government as one which favours corporates over the underprivileged farmers and labourers.

Gandhi has repeatedly questioned Modi about his promise that every Indian would receive Rs15 lakhs when black money is recovered from abroad. "Has anyone here received the money," he said at the rally today. "If Modi had to give Bihar 'Special Status' then why has he not done in the past year."

Gandhi said that Modi had promised to raise MSPs (Minimum Support Price), but farmers in Punjab, Harayana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra are committing suicide.
