German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived In India on Sunday, accompanied by a delegation of top German CEOs, to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for boosting economic trade ties as well as cooperate in areas of defence, security and renewable sustainable enrgy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his welcome upon the German chancellor's arrival in India for a two day visit.

Discussions have been fruitful with India bagging $2.25 billion of German investment for the development of clean energy corridors and solar projects ahead of the UN Climate Change talks scheduled to be held this December in Paris.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel were at the Indo-German Summit organised by IT lobby company Nasscom today in Bengaluru, where Modi pushed for his ambitious 'Make In India' campaign which Merkel supported by saying, "German engineering and India's IT expertise are fused here in Bengaluru."
