'Singh Is Bliing' Is This Year's Second Highest Domestic Opener, After 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'

Wherever Akshay Kumar must be right now, chances are he's sporting that trademark gummy grin.

According to reports as well as tweets by trade analyst Taran Adarsh, his latest release Singh Is Bliing has earned Rs 54.44 crore at the domestic box-office over its opening weekend. The film, a sequel of sorts to the 2008 comedy Singh Is Kinng, also stars Lara Dutta and Amy Jackson and has been directed by Prabhu Deva.

This makes the film 2015's second highest domestic opener after Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which had earned Rs 102.60 crore.

According to Box Office India, the film earned about Rs 77 crore worldwide this weekend, putting it at the number four position. This is just Rs 4 crore shy of Kumar's previous release, Brothers, which pulled in Rs 81 crore worldwide in its opening weekend.
