Sonakshi Sinha Protests Meat Ban, Gets Fat-Shamed On Twitter

If you're a Bollywood actress, you better stay away from speaking your mind. At least that's what a section of social media users want you to believe.

A day after her colleague Sonam Kapoor was trolled on Twitter, actress Sonakshi Sinha was called 'fat', 'stupid' and a 'wretched creature' and asked to keep away from such debates because she belongs to a 'loser khandaan.' Her fault? The actress decided to outrage on Twitter for the proposed meat ban.

Mumbai's civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, has proposed a four-day ban on the slaughter and sale of meat in the city during the Jain festival of fasting.

Sinha tweeted in protest of the imposed meat ban, and called India, 'BAN-istan'.

This is a free country! Welcome to BAN-istan... I meant india.. Stupid autocorrect.

Soon after, she was told to "shut up" because she is "fat". Body shaming is a common problem on social media platforms and women and men are often expected to conform to impossible standards of beauty.

@sonakshisinha chup kar moti

It did not end there. Sinha was called a 'hypocrite' because of an older tweet addressed to the then Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, asking him to ban the sale of animal-tested cosmetics.

And, of course, she was also asked to leave the country.
