NEW DELHI -- Two Nepalese women, employed as domestic help by a Saudi Arabian diplomat, were rescued from a house in Gurgaon after they were allegedly sexually assaulted and kept in bondage for months. The house is reportedly rented by the diplomat. His wife and daughter have also been accused of torturing the women.
Meanwhile the Saudi embassy dismissed the charges as "completely false" and "contrary to facts in our possession", IANS reported, adding they would wait for the Indian government to clarify the matter as per diplomatic norms. The embassy official also told IANS that they "disapproved" the way police was handling the case and said it was violative of the rights of the diplomat and his family.
Police has registered a case of gang-rape, rape, unnatural sex, and some other charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. Police believe that the diplomat, who has not been named, and his unknown friends and guests tortured and raped the two Nepalese women while his wife and daughter also tortured them.
According to police sources, the man arrived in India with his family from Jeddah. The two women had been allegedly kept in bondage at first in Jeddah and they were then moved to a fifth floor apartment in Gurgaon's Ambience Island Caitriona complex. Cops are in touch with the Saudi government on the case.
The women, who are both in their 30s, were allegedly tortured physically and sexually. They were rescued after another domestic help working at the Gurgaon house saw the condition of the two women and fled from the house. She then informed an NGO which alerted Gurgaon police about the matter.
"After keeping the duo for some time in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, both were brought to Gurgaon. The victims were raped and gang raped by the diplomat and his friends and guests," Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar told IANS.
Police rescued the women on Tuesday and informed the Nepalese Embassy about the matter. No arrests have been made so far.
Meanwhile the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday sought for a detailed report from the Gurgaon Police on the sexual assault case of Nepalese women at Saudi diplomat's residence.
"We are seeking details from the local police," MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.
Meanwhile, the women told journalists on Wednesday that they had been gang raped by "five or six" friends of the diplomat.
"They brought friends from outside they use to rape us when the family went out, five to six person use to come from outside and rape us inside the locked room. They use to threaten us of our life," said the older woman to ANI.
"They have not paid us for last four months, we were working as maids in his home. We worked for a month at Delhi, and then he took us to Saudi and then brought us back to Gurgaon," she added.
More details are awaited.
