On Sunday, it was reported that cricketer Suresh Raina would be making his singing debut with the upcoming Meeruthiya Gangsters.

Quadri is best known for having co-written Anurag Kashyap's Gangs Of Wasseypur films, aside from having acted as the hot-headed 'Definite' in the film. A year ago, he was in New Delhi to meet with a distributor named Shoeb Ahmad. They met on the road near a prominent temple in New Friends Colony, with Ahmad in his car, when Quadri suddenly realised that Raina was sitting in the car next to him. The left-handed all-rounder and Ahmad are old friends.

"We exchanged looks, then smiled, and then he said, 'I've seen you somewhere before'," said Quadri, in a phone conversation. "I asked him, 'Where have you seen me?'" The instant Raina heard his voice, Quadri says he recognised him as Definite. He then got out of the car and the two spoke animatedly about Quadri's character and the dialogues from the movie, which he said he'd loved.

The three of them soon formed a bond. A few months later, when Quadri signed his contract for Meeruthiya Gangsters at Ahmad's office (he is the film's co-producer), Raina was there. The three vacationed together in Nainital shortly thereafter. The cricketer even dropped in on the sets of the film when it was being shot in Meerut and Noida, whenever time permitted.

About ten days ago, Raina's wife Priyanka Chaudhary asked Quadri and Ahmad ("She probably meant it jokingly," says Quadri) whether the cricketer would also have his own song in the film. "At that point, we realised that it would be a great way to promote the film," said Quadri. "Convincing him to do it wasn't hard."

The song, which should be released on Wednesday, is called 'Tu Mili, Sab Mila' and has been composed by Siddhant Madhav. Quadri says that it will not be featured in the film. "This is the first time a cricketer will be singing a Bollywood song," he said. "That's a pretty big deal, I'd say."
