PHOTOS: Victoria Lautman's Quest To Chronicle India's Amazing Stepwells

Agrasen ki Baoli is a 60-meter long and 15-meter wide historical step well on Hailey Road near Connaught Place, a short walk from Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, India.

Stepwells— the water reservoirs of medieval India and locally known as baoli — have for long been popular tourist attractions in India. While some are well known, Chicago-based journalist Victoria Lautman has extensively researched several of them and brought to light the architectural finesse in several little-known ones too. Here's a collection of photographs of some of them, compiled by a fan.
