Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is serving a jail term for his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, has been granted a parole of 30 days. This time it's because his daughter Trishala is scheduled to undergo a nose surgery.

The parole application was sanctioned by Pune's divisional commissioner two days ago and the actor is expected to be home in next couple of days.

The 30-day parole is extendable by 60 more days. Which means, the actor can be out of jail for three months if the authorities allow him.

Vijay Satbir Sigh, principal secretary, (home) told Hindustan Times, “We have been informed that the Pune divisional commissioner has approved the parole application and Dutt will be out after completing the formalities.”

Since his sentence began in May 2013, the actor has spent 146 days outside of a jail cell.

Last year in December, he was granted furlough of 14 days to celebrate New Year's with his family. After much criticism from the media, the furlough was not extended.

In January 2014, he was granted parole for 30 days, which was extended for 60 days. In October 2013, Dutt was granted furlough, which was extended by another 14 days.

The 55-year-old actor is serving the remainder of his five-year jail term for possessing illegal firearms that was part of a cache of weapons meant to be used during the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. These serial blasts killed over 250 people in Mumbai.
