Watch: The Making Of The World's Largest Movie Poster

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli's film Baahubali has officially entered the Guinness World Records for the largest poster ever made, at 4,793.65 square metres.

The Telugu film itself was also billed as the most expensive production in the history of Indian cinema. It was this reason that inspired the team to do something different, said Prem Menon, managing director of Global United Media, distributors in Kerala. So they decided to create the world's largest poster in Kochi, and unveiled it late last month, as a promotional strategy.

Initially meant to be unveiled at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Baahubali's poster was finally laid out at the Sacred Heart College, Thevara -- the stadium declined at the last minute saying they only host sporting events. Even so it was no easy task to lay out the mammoth poster: Many volunteers dressed in lightweight transparent raincoats had to work in the pouring rain piecing together the poster even as it lay in several inches of water on the ground.

Eventually however, the project was successfully completed, and looked absolutely stunning. Here's the making of the world's largest movie poster:
