Oh, So THIS Is Why Coldplay's Chris Martin Is In Delhi
Poverty project

NEW DELHI — This morning, the Indian social media had a meltdown after it discovered that Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin paid a surprise visit to Summer House Cafe in Delhi's Hauz Khas Village and played an impromptu acoustic set featuring hits like Paradise and Viva La Vida.

The multi-Grammy award-winning musician performed before a crowd that couldn't believe its luck. Some would surely have wondered if they were hallucinating.

In the audience, there was actor Freida Pinto, folk-rock musician Raghu Dixit, and the crew from All India Bakchod.

So, why is the Coldplay frontman in Delhi suddenly?

Martin and Freida Pinto are traveling in India with The Global Poverty Project, a nonprofit organization that is working to end 'extreme poverty' by 2030.

Martin and Pinto have spent their trip visiting slum areas in Delhi, meeting politicians and individuals from other NGOs.

According to sources, the Coldplay singer has met Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and discussed sanitation projects in India. On Wednesday, he also paid a visit to the Kalyanpuri slum in Delhi.

The singer arrived in India on June 30 and is scheduled to leave on Friday.
