WATCH: The 'Masaan' Trailer Looks Utterly Gorgeous

The New Trailer For The Award-Winning 'Masaan' Looks Gorgeous

This isn't the first trailer for 'Masaan', Neeraj Ghaywan's feature film debut that won two awards at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival in May. Here is the one that was cut for international audiences.

While the older one seemed to focus more on the 'Indian exotica' aspects of the film, which has been written by lyricist and comedian Varun Grover, the new trailer that has been cut for the Indian release is much more satisfying. Set in Varanasi, 'Masaan' has three concurrent story threads: one about a young man from the Dom community (Vicky Kaushal) who falls in love with an upper-caste girl; the second one about a young woman (Richa Chadha) who gets harassed by the police after they barge in on her and a lover; and the third, about her father (Sanjay Mishra), who attempts to deal with the situation by finding refuge at the city's famous ghats.

What really strikes one about the trailer is the film's beautiful cinematography by Avinash Arun, who has also shot Marathi film 'Killa' (which he also directed) and upcoming Ajay Devgn starrer 'Drishyam'. The music, composed by Indian Ocean, can be heard in this trailer and seems to captures the spirit of the film as well as its setting quite well.

'Masaan' releases in India on July 24.
