WATCH: 'Brothers' Trailer Shows Akshay Kumar And Sidharth Malhotra Facing Off Against Each Other

The 'Brothers' Trailer Reveals A Faithful, Indianised Adaptation Of 'Warrior'

'Warrior' (2011), a sports drama starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton, was a story about two brothers who enter a prestigous mixed martial arts tournament and are forced to confront their troubled pasts and broken relationships. This has now been remade (officially) by Dharma Productions as 'Brothers', whose trailer was uploaded online on Wednesday.

Featuring Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, and Jacqueline Fernandez, along with Jackie Shroff in the role that got American veteran Nick Nolte an Oscar nomination, 'Brothers' has been directed by Karan Malhotra ('Agneepath'). His larger-than-life sensibilities are quite evident here, especially if one compares the trailer of 'Warrior' to this directly. The recreation of a world-level MMA tournament looks quite credible, while the moments of drama between Kumar and Malhotra look slightly forced and painfully cliched. But perhaps this is the fall-out of watching random footage that is completely out of context.

Speaking of context, here's the trailer for 'Warrior'. Watch this and then the trailer above for comparison's sake.

'Brothers' releases in theatres on August 14.
