Marathi Film 'Killa' Has A Motion Poster Out That Pays Tribute To A Simpler Time

This Motion Poster For A Marathi Film Is A Nostalgic Tribute To A Simpler TIme

There is an entire adult generation out there who don't know of a time before the Internet. But for those who were born in the '80s, at a time when the only channel on TV in India was Doordarshan, this piece composed by Ustad Ali Ahmed Hussain Khan with Pandit Ravi Shankar is an indispensable part of childhood.

It has also been used in the motion poster for the upcoming Marathi-language film 'Killa', which releases on June 26.

The motion poster also uses other markers of childhood, such as the ubiquitous Nataraj pencils, which could also be used to fix a cassette (millenials, this is what people used to listen to music on before CDs) whose tape had unravelled.

The directorial debut of cinematographer Avinash Arun (who has, aside from this, also shot the upcoming films 'Masaan' and Ajay Devgn starrer 'Drishyam'), 'Killa' is a coming-of-age tale set in a small village in coastal Maharashtra. In 2014, 'Killa' won the Crystal Bear at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival as well as the Silver Gateway at the 16th Mumbai International Film Festival. In March, it won the National Award for Best Marathi Film.
