NEW DELHI -- Barely six months after an Uber driver allegedly raped a passenger in Delhi, another woman has come forward complaining her Uber cab driver tried to forcibly kiss her.
A case of sexual harassment under section 354A of the Indian Penal Code was registered on Monday night at the Gurgaon sector 56 police station. "Gurgaon police has received a complaint over email at 8.27 pm today regarding the Uber cab incident," according to a press release from the police commissioner's office. "The alleged accused cab driver has also been identified."
Police have requested for relevant information from Uber officials, who have been cooperating, said police.
The incident reportedly took place on May 30 at night, when the woman booked a cab to Gurgaon. The driver apparently tried to kiss her, following which she registered a complaint with Uber. Her brother Ankush Pathania shared a screenshot of Uber's reply to her on Facebook after she reportedly did not get any response from them.
In the Facebook post, her brother complained that Uber had not taken any action or given an update after assuring to look into it. "You people are pathetic, you still don't have any mechanism in place. What is making you people wait for so long?? Looking for a escape mechanism??" wrote Pathania.

Uber has responded to Pathania's post, claiming that they had reached out to the girl immediately on phone after receiving her complaint, and that the Uber team was speaking to the driver to ascertain the sequence of events.
"Uber has a zero-tolerance policy towards inappropriate behaviour and immediate action has already been taken with the driver partner even while the matter is being thoroughly investigated," said Gagan Bhatia, general manager of Uber in Delhi, in an emailed reply to HuffPost India. "In order to protect the privacy of parties involved, we will continue to handle this matter directly with the concerned parties."
Bhatia confirmed that the driver in question has a valid public service vehicle badge and commercial license issued by Delhi officials.
