WATCH: Acid Attack Survivor Gets A Bollywood Beauty Makeover, Shows Inner Beauty

This Brave Beauty's Makeover Will Put A Smile On Your Face
youtube

Initially, it might seem that this touching video of an acid attack survivor, Reshma Banoo Qureshi, getting a makeover is an attempt to cover her scars. Instead, it highlights one simple fact: girls generally like getting makeovers.

The eighteen-year-old Mumbai dweller was reportedly attacked by her brother-in-law and a couple of other men in Allahabad while visiting her sister. Reshma does not explain why she was attacked in the video, but has described the experience as one that "burnt everything away, along with her face."

Reshma is seen smiling in the video at the thought of her makeover (organised by beauty channel Blush in collaboration with website Make Love Not Scars (a movement that brings awareness about acid attack survivors and showcases their talents and strengths)), and claims that once done, she "would look prettier than Katrina Kaif.

Just like any young girl, Reshma is fond of certain products such as mehndi and nail polish (she says in the video), but her ultimate goal is to work in an NGO and help traumatised victims. Even as she's adorned with pretty clothes and jewellery, what really hits home is her message to the world: the young girl says that life is meant to be lived no matter what, and that beauty (makeovers aside) is not judged by face value only.
