Rachpal Singh, the minister for Planning and Development in West Bengal, has prompted angry reactions after he was caught on camera allowing a police bodyguard assigned to him to tie his showlace, according to media reports.
Singh had gone to the state secretariat to pay tribute to celebrated artist Ramkinkar Baij when his personal guard was seen squatting before him, tying his laces, according to an NDTV report.
Singh, who is a former IPS officer, had probably taken off his shoes to garland the artist's statue and when he came out, the guard rushed to tie his laces, and he let him.

The minister did not comment on the incident.
CPI-M leader Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya was quoted as saying that the incident underlines "political bankruptcy of the Trinamool Congress and its leader".
