Anuvab Pal, one of the country's best known stand-up comedians, has made a video about what it's like to be a woman and use Tinder in India. The seven-minute-long sketch now has close to 50,000 views on YouTube.
Uploaded on Tuesday, the video features South Indian actress Lekha Washington as a single girl using Tinder for the first time. In the process, she meets several stock characters supposedly found on 'Indian Tinder' — the loudmouth 'Punjabi man', who can't stop talking about his partying lifestyle; the morose 'Bengali man', perpetually contemplating the point of existence; the 'Dad man', who can't stop talking about his father's achievements, and more.
While its insights are shallow and broad stereotypes more than familiar (and articulated better by this great piece), the video catches your attention and redeems itself via a talented cast that features stand-up comics from different collectives. These include Neville Shah, Varun Thakur, and Karan Talwar from SnG Comedy; Rohan Joshi of All India Bakchod, and Abish Mathew.
