Dark Shades And #ModiSwag Inside China's Terracotta Warriors Museum Has Twitter In Splits
Agencies

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a three-day trip to China, visited the famous Terracotta Warriors Museum in Xi'an this morning and posed for some rather interesting photos. The museum has sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China.

During his hour-long trip to the museum the Indian Prime Minister had a pair of dark shades on and predictaby found himself the subject of hilarious jokes and memes on Twitter because of the photos that the government and media handles tweeted out of him striking various poses with the imposing figurines.

There are a considerable number of memes and wisecracks out there, but here are some LOL-inducing ones.

Modi who is on a visit to China to strengthen bilateral economic ties, and set a new milestone for Asia, has been doing his rounds of the city of X'ian before the talks actually begin with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Modi dressed for the day in a white kurta-churidar combination with a colourful shawl around his shoulder, but caught the media's attention with his sunglasses, that he continued to wear even inside the museum.

The prime minister himself tweeted several pictures of his visit, appearing to take off his glasses only to examine a couple of figurines, and once he was outside the building. Er...

Modi has been critiqued in the past for his attempts at making a fashion statement: the last was when US President Barack Obama visited the country. Modi donned a pin-striped suit with his name appearing on the stripes specially for the occasion, and was criticised for self-promotion (he also overshadowed FLOTUS's outfit in the process). Eventually the suit was auctioned for a sum of Rs 4.31 crore.

Modi also visited China's famous Buddhist Daxingshan temple in Shaanxi province, which also happens to be the home province of President Xi, and was overwhelmed by the warm welcome.
