NEW DELHI — Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said in Parliament that the 26/11 mastermind Dawood Ibrahim was hiding in Pakistan and that India would bring him back, reported Zee News.
"Pakistan was given all the relevant documents on Dawood Ibrahim, but they have failed to start the process to locate him. If we have to pursue Pakistan or put pressure on them, we will do so to get Dawood Ibrahim. We will get Dawood Ibrahim no matter what and we are sure of that," said Singh, according to ANI.
The government was left red-faced last week when Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary said that the location of India's most wanted terrorist was not known to the government. However, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju had later clarified that the underworld don lives in Pakistan.
"In a written statement (in Parliament), the government has admitted that it does not know the location of Dawood Ibrahim. By saying this, all the government's claims that he (Ibrahim) is plotting against India while sitting in Pakistan are nullified. It shows we are not being able to take him on," the Shiv Sena had said in an editorial in its party mouthpiece Saamana. "The government should make its stand clear in Parliament. Is Dawood Ibrahim running the Pakistan government or are his links stronger than the Home Ministry, which is unable to do anything?" it said.
