New Delhi based live-streaming startup InstaLively will be taking the wraps off its private beta and launching its Android app on the Google Play store in the next two weeks, its co-founders said.

The startup was co-founded by Karthik Vaidyanathan, an IIT Roorkee alumnus, and Prakhar Khanduja, a college dropout in October 2014.

According to the founders, the app’s USP is that works on Indian 3G connections, and can be used to broadcast video to YouTube, allowing for instant replays. Streams can be shared on Twitter and Facebook as well, with a one-click WhatsApp share button built into the UI.

Streams posted on the InstaLively feed can be played on any device, without needing the use of an app or requiring a login, said co-founder Prakhar Khanduja. The app supports 720p HD streams. “We’re the only app that lets you stream live to YouTube with a single click.” he said.

The company has raised angel funding of Rs. 75 lakhs from six angel investors including Google India managing director Rajan Anandan.

InstaLively also has an enterprise solution which they are calling ‘Uber for content digitisation’. The startup has has piloted the app with over 80 clients in India, Khanduja said. “We’re the only ones doing it right now. The best part is the cost - we can do it for as little as 5,000 rupees for 8 hours of work. Our technology only needs 1 Mbps connections, which a normal 3G dongle can provide.” he added.

InstaLively currently has a team of 14 people, and have applied for a provisional patent on the app. They’re currently porting the app to Android Lollipop, the current beta only supports Android ICS, Jellybean and Kit Kat phones. Over 500 people are already using the app. You can sign up for the beta here.

Apart from Periscope and Meerkat, Facebook’s Riff was also a recent app launch in the live video streaming space. Meerkat recently launched an app for Android last weekend, and added the ability to post feeds to Facebook in its latest iOS update.

Live-streaming apps are opening a Pandora’s Box in respect to piracy. Feeds of HBO’s Game Of Thrones and the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight were broadcast on both Periscope and Meerkat. Twitter CEO Dick Costolo declared Periscope the winner of the event.
